Standard bunk beds - there are a number of different types of bunk bed. A standard bunk bed will have two beds the same stacked one on top of the other. A single over double bunk bed has a single bed stacked above a double bed. A futon bunk is arranged like a standard bunk bed but with a futon bed underneath. An L shaped bunk arranges the beds so that they appear in an L shape. The top bed of a bunk bed arrangement is only suitable for children age 6 and over. These beds are great for children who share a bedroom or children who have friends who sleepover.
The bed frame should be able to withstand rough handling and metal frames are considered to be much better than beds with wooden frames. Since all children love to jump on their beds and use it as a trampoline it's always safer and worth it in the long run to have an underside with springs that can withstand all that activity.
Silk, and other types of materials, usually require dry cleaning in order to keep them in good condition. Many times, these types of materials will need to be hand washed.
Kids do tend to collect a lot of stuff which they store in their room. Space wise however, their bedrooms are smaller than adult bedrooms and therefore furniture should be bought keeping this in mind. Some good ideas for kids beds are bunk beds which are not only fun when friends spend the night, but also save space if two kids are sharing the room. Other space saving beds are those with built in drawers and shelves and cubby holes in the bed head to keep their favorite books and other memorabilia that kids normally love to collect.
Cotton is, for the most part, a very versatile material, that can be washed in a machine. If the tag comes off of a kids bedding item that you need to wash, it is best to follow the guidelines set on the machine that say for a certain material, they should be washed on a certain cycle with a certain temperature of water.
