Girls beds are often indistinguishable from boys beds. They're usually heavy, built to resist wrestling, jumping, and sleepovers, and only the addition of some printed sheets and a few pillows can distinguish a girl's fairytale room from a boy's castle room. Kids theme beds take the idea of children's beds a step further, and create safe, sturdy frames, headboards, and even lofts that fit the theme of a child's room. Castles are popular for accessorizing Disney Princess rooms, while baseball, basketball, and hockey designs are popular additions to sports theme rooms. Some parents actually use the beds themselves for design inspiration, by first finding unique kids beds that they like, and purchasing paint, textiles, and other furniture based on the bed's look.
Parents of multiple children also often gravitate to custom beds, since a lot of commercial furniture designed for two or more children tends to be bulky and unattractive. Most regular metal-tube bunk beds look very out of place in princess rooms, but customized kids theme beds can incorporate bunks and loft beds with ease, and still fit a room's décor. Parents of single children with a lot of friends get a lot of use out of beds in the loft style, since the space left under the bed itself can provide a small study or play area. Some custom beds include doors and windows, which turn beds into play castles in princess rooms, and a bunk into an island tree house for a boys pirate ship room. For this reason, they're also useful for decorating rooms without a lot of space for extra furniture- some custom bed designs can incorporate the functions of a bed, desk, dresser, and bookshelves in one piece of furniture, and still leave room for a small play area.
Standard bunk beds - there are a number of different types of bunk bed. A standard bunk bed will have two beds the same stacked one on top of the other. A single over double bunk bed has a single bed stacked above a double bed. A futon bunk is arranged like a standard bunk bed but with a futon bed underneath. An L shaped bunk arranges the beds so that they appear in an L shape. The top bed of a bunk bed arrangement is only suitable for children age 6 and over. These beds are great for children who share a bedroom or children who have friends who sleepover.
