Floor-length curtains. These are curtains where the fabric either just touches the floor, or drapes over it with excess material (the latter is called puddle-length). This gives an impression of luxury and decadence, and you don't even need to have long windows to make use of such curtains: in fact, floor-length curtains on regular windows tricks the eye, and makes the windows appear bigger and thus brings more light into the room.
Net curtains. Net curtains are back in fashion, and should no longer be associated with fusty, old-fashioned interiors. Plain white, thin net curtains make a room appear more elegant, and from a practical side, stop people peering into your living room. If you prefer patterns, it's advisable to keep it minimal, or focussed only on the bottom half of the curtain. Patterns such as leaves and flowers are usually preferred, as they serve as a connection between the outside and inside space.
Kids curtains. There is a whole plethora of fun to be had with children's curtains. They can be found in every colour, and include images tailored to your children's tastes that would not be suitable for any other room; for example, elephants for an animal-lover or cars for a motor enthusiast. Moreover, fun curtains will give your children something to focus on, encouraging the commence of bedtime.
